MaJaTo Scribes Explained

This may be the first bit of text you read on this blog, so I'd better make it good.  Perhaps I should start with a joke about writing. ...

Press Photography

Hopefully not a misleading title.  I just wanted somewhere to record any articles where I've supplied photos for the local press. The pics were used in the paper and websites (often in more than one title).  These are the ones I've found so far.

Unfortunately, when I requested the credit to go as my business (NorfolkPlaces) they either put them down as uncredited, or, worse, claimed the credit for themselves. It's not as if my little company was any competition for the local rag, but there you go!

You don't need to click on the links to the articles. I've included them where possible in case the curious amongst you wish to read the articles too.

I'll start by mentioning there are a few where I can't provide the link because the articles no longer exist (sadly, this also the case for some caption competitions I won years ago too).  There are also a few other articles I considered including where I have been quoted (there's one about a red moon occurrence, millennium babies, and also about some dodgy double-glazing company), but for now I'll stick to the pics.

The first one above is one of those where the article no longer exists (at least, not the link that I had for it). The picture is not a great one. It's of a crash scene, taken from the front seat of a bus (compete with scratch on the windscreen) as we drove by. So, it was a but rushed. It went straight on the newspaper's website "live from the scene" and I think accompanied a newspaper article too.

Fred Nicholson School Bus Presentation by Lord's Taverners - Photo Copyright Mark Towers

The above photo was taken at a ceremony to commemorate the donation of a minibus to a school. Yes, it's that bloke from The Bill cutting the cake.  Sadly this story was never taken up by the local paper, so I carried it on my website instead.

Low Riders Basketball and Lord's Taverners - Photo Copyright Mark Towers

This is a great story about about special wheelchairs being donated to a basketball team. I watched them train (there's a video on NorfolkPlaces YouTubr channel) and it was brilliant.

This photo (of a former coach for a low non-league football team) was actually pilfered from my personal photos. Not a great photo, but obviously the personnel of the club in question decided it was better than any they had. It's just a shame no-one asked my permission to use it, so it's incorrectly credited on the newspaper website. It's just not cricket...

Clare School Sensory Garden - Photo Copyright Mark Towers

Finally, this one was my favourite assignments of them all because it was very moving to hear of the fantastic work being done at this school. A sensory garden had recently been rebuilt thanks to The Lord's Taverners (the same people from a couple of the other articles), and I joined them as they chatted to the Headmaster and some of the kids.
